When Emily was 6 or 7 years old, she went with her parents back to their home town in Wales. They were from the same village in Wales as in the movie "How Green Was My Valley"....coal mining village of Gilfach Goch, about 5 miles west of Pontypridd in Glamorgan.
After a year or two, they returned to New Castle, PA.
When Emily was in high school, she was in a street car accident as severely injured her back.
Surgery was required so the removed a bone from her leg to use in her back. Later, in the 1950's, on a cross country trip, Emily and Oscar, along with "Uncle Jim and Aunt Thelma", they were in a major car accident in Amarillo, Texas.
Emily injured her leg that required a steel rod to run from her hip to her ankle. Emily died you from a Cerebral Hemorrhage.
